No Words

What do you do when there are no words?
When there is no comfort to give, to have, to take.
When there is no touch strong enough to stop the tears.
When there is no love loud enough to silence the doubts.
I cannot comfort you then.
I cannot comfort myself, if there is no happy sigh, no marks of the wise, no safe way to move on.
Sometimes there is only pain.
Sometimes there is only the knowledge that this too shall pass.
Sometimes you have to know that there is only you to lean on.
There is only myself to help me.
I cannot help you then.
I cannot help myself if there is no moment of revelation, no signs of home, no roads to choose.
Helpful hands are meanless without their touch.
Helpful hearts love less without their moment to share.
Helpful thoughts send only doubts without their time to calm.
Keep the knowledge that all things will end.
I cannot be with you always.
