Guidelines

For guideline updates please watch the Guidelines Tag on the DotH community. Guidelines are listed below as listed in this post.

  1. Daughters of the Horde is an all-female guild, created from the wow_ladies community on Livejournal. This does not mean we all play females. This means that all PLAYERS must be female. This also means that you cannot let your boyfriend/husband/male friend play your character for you, at any time, once you are in the guild. If anyone is found to be in violation Guideline 1, they will immediately be removed from the guild. There are few exceptions, listed below:

    • You're late for an instance run and someone else logs on to your character to get her ready;
    • If you're afk and not in a safe spot, and your character is being jumped by mobs, and someone else jumps in to save your butt.
At any time when someone other than you is playing your character (for one of the above reasons), regardless of gender, this person MUST announce that they are playing the character in guild chat when they log in. If no one from the guild is on at the time, then later someone does log in, they should announce themselves then. You can turn on Guild Member Alerts in the Interface Options menu (it will make a sound and display the name of the character who has logged on in your general window). In short, we want to know when the person behind the name isn't the usual person.

  2. Since we started via Livejournal and our forum is located there, we are now requiring every Daughter of the Horde member to have a Livejournal account and to (at least occasionally) read wow_doth. It's free to get a Livejournal too, so there is no cost involved. Just think of it as needing to register on other guild forums, such as Guildportal or a phpBB forum or such. Once you join Daughters of the Horde, be sure to check your Player's Note and see if it has your Livejournal name. An officer will likely ask you for it when you join, but it's always good to check it yourself. Once your LJ name is listed, one of our Officers will promote you from Peon to Lackey. If you don't have a Livejournal, we will give you a week to register one, and you will remain a Peon until you have a livejournal username listed in your guild notes. After that time, if you still have not created a journal and updated your note, you will be removed from the guild. If you wish to rejoin, be sure to tell the officers on #wowladies what your Livejournal name is.
It's also a good idea once you've joined to post an introduction message in the community, so we can know a bit more about you!
You will remain in the Lackey rank for a month after you have joined, just to give us the chance to get to know you a bit. If you have been reasonably active (i.e. it hasn't been weeks since you last logged on), you will be automatically promoted to Devoted Minion. The officers will try to keep on top of the promotions, but if you think you've been in the guild for over a month and are still a Lackey, feel free to contact an officer about it.

  3. We do not require you to play your character daily, or even weekly! However, if you have not logged on to your character for six months, you will be removed from the guild. While we don't force anyone to play with us, we do consider that six months of inactivity likely means that you are no longer interested in playing that character. If you decide to start up your character again, you are more than welcome to rejoin the guild.
NOTE: This does not apply to your alts. If your alt does not have your main's name listed in the note, please make sure to add that in or ask an officer to do so.

  4. We are not a guild that is all about the endgame. We created this guild to have fun and play together in an all-female atmosphere. We now have the numbers to run Karazhan regularly (with hopes of seeing Zul Aman and Gruul's Lair eventually), and we often run level 70 instances on both regular and heroic. However, we are a CASUAL guild and raiding will never be our main focus. If you want to do endgame content, there are plenty of other guilds out there who are more than willing to help you reach the Black Temple and pwn Illidan, but that doesn't mean you can't still chat with members on the #dothfriends channel.

  5. This guild should be a place where you can plop yourself down in front of the computer and play with the girls for a night or two. If there is something in the guild that is making you not have fun, please talk to an officer. We want everyone to be comfortable and enjoy themselves, and if the atmosphere of guild chat or the conduct of another guild member (even that of an officer or our guild mistress!) causes a problem for you, we want to address it! Please feel free to speak to an officer via a whisper, in-game email, or out-of-game email or comment in Livejournal.
However, we also recognize that not everyone will get along swimmingly. People's personalities conflict, or their gaming styles don't mesh, and a casual comment can be taken the wrong way when you're having a bad day. Please keep in mind Guideline #7. You do NOT have to like everyone in the guild, but we ask that you treat everyone with respect.

  6. Please don't be discouraged if you are a low level and you look at the guild list online and see everyone else is in Outland. Many of us have low level alts that we play, whether for battlegrounds or just to try out a new class. And if you need help, please feel free to ask! If we can't come right away to your aid, we can at least offer advice. We highly encourage that you use our LJ community to schedule instance runs, and this is especially true for low level runs -- there are usually a lot of people scattered across all levels, and you will have a much better chance at getting a bunch of 40s together if you schedule in advance.
We have grown a lot since our early days, and we have players in varied time zones, so you will usually find someone online at any time of the day. However, our busiest times tend to be the weekends and most week nights starting around 2pm server.

  7. We ask that you treat everyone - guild member or not - with respect. This includes using language that is appropriate ("leet speak" should only be used for amusement value). While most of us do swear now and then, - with good reason, of course! - constant strings of profanity will result in a warning from an officer. Discrimination for any reason (sexist, racist, ageist, and intolerance of religious beliefs or sexual orientation included) will result in a warning from an officer. Repeated offenses will result in your removal from the guild.

  8. Our guild standard for loot rules is as follows: pass on all Bind on Pickup items and discuss, need/greed on everything else – this gives more time to discuss who could use the BoP items, and allows for an unwanted boss drop to be disenchanted when there is an enchanter in the group. While we don't require anyone to use this set of rules on their runs, you will find that this is what is done on most 5-man groups in DotH. You are encouraged to ask about the loot rules with your party any time you’re not sure what’s going on, even it it’s an all-DotH group.
Definitely take a moment to discuss loot rules when you’re in a pick-up group. If no one will discuss loot rules with you, that doesn't give you free rein to roll need on everything. Come up with rules on your own, and stick to them. Your fellow Daughters will thank you when we're remembered for being fair and polite when they're in their next PUG.
If you're in a PUG and a BoP drops which you need, do not pass (even if those are the loot rules your group has decided on) until other members of the party have passed, otherwise you may end up burned if someone else rolls on it. Stick to your loot rules, but watch out for yourself as well: not everyone you PUG with will be as polite as a guildie.

As always, these guidelines hopefully reflect how everyone feels about the guild. If there is something listed that bothers you, please let an officer know!
